Math Six Course Objectives:

The first objective of Math Six is to provide a review of basic facts and operations and attempt to get students of varying backgrounds up to grade level proficiency in the four basic operations using whole numbers. The course aims to build strong computational and problem solving skills, and to give students opportunities to express mathematical thinking orally and in writing. Topics studied include: addition and subtraction of whole numbers and decimals, multiplication of whole numbers and decimals, division of whole numbers, graphing and statistics, division of decimals, measurement and geometry, addition and subtraction of fractions, multiplication and division of fractions, ratio, proportion, probability, and percent.

Internet-based Projects:

Students are challenged to apply their math skills to real life situations with an internet-based project each quarter. These include topics such as planning a vacation within a budget, purchasing a new car, and living on the starting salary of a chosen career. Below are links to samples of student work.
